hola akademiaHungarian

Hungarian is the official language of Hungary and is spoken by approximately 13 million people. Not only in Hungary, but also in minority communities in countries such as Romania (Transylvania), Slovakia, Serbia (Vojvodina), Ukraine (Transcarpathia region), Austria, Croatia, and Slovenia. Hungarian belongs to the Ugric branch of languages, which is part of the larger Finno-Ugric language family. Unlike almost all Central European languages (which are Indo-European: German, Slovak, Polish…), Hungarian is a linguistic isolate within its geographical area. This means that its basic structure and vocabulary have no direct relation to those of its neighboring languages. Hungarian grammar is fascinating and very different from that of other European languages. Its main feature is that it is an agglutinative language – instead of using prepositions (in, with, for…), it adds suffixes and prefixes to the root of a word to express grammatical relations, cases, possession, etc. For example, to say “in the house,” one doesn’t use a separate word, but a locative case suffix: ház – house + -ban (in) = házban. Nóra

hola akademia

Szia! My name is Nóra. At the ¡Hola! Academy language school I teach Hungarian, and I can also prepare tailor-made tutoring in it for you. Since childhood I have been close to literature and languages, which became my passion. Hungarian is not only my native language but also an important part of my identity and culture, which I enjoy sharing with other students. I am fascinated by how language opens new possibilities for communication and understanding between people. I studied Hungarian language at the Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University in Bratislava, where I focus on research into Central European literature and cultural identity. At the same time, I am also engaged in pedagogical training, because teaching for me is not only a job, but also a calling. I look forward to our classes together!
